Frequently Asked Questions or Find Answers Quickly
Will TRK lenses fit on my phone?
Yes! Our lenses & filters are compatible with laptops, tablets, apple, windows and android devices as well as those with more than one lens. If you’re not sure or are buying the lenses as a gift, please let me know the make and model of the device they are for and I will advise which lenses are best suited.
Can I keep my phone case on?
You totally can, as long as the lens gives you the result you want. Try it with the case off to and see which you like best.
How do the lenses work?
The glass lenses distort your view. The image you see when you have a lens attached will either be magnified (using a macro or telephoto lens or demagnified (using a wide angle or fish-eye lens). Telephoto lenses compress the image. Wide angle lenses expand the view.
But my phone can already take macro and wide-angle images
That’s great! Now try using the lenses as well. The telephoto will get you closer still and the demagnifiers will give the authentic distortion associated with DSLR photography.
Why do I see black shadows and lens flare?
When the lens is not placed centrally and directly over the camera, black shadows can appear (fringing). Remedy this by removing your phone case and readjusting the lens. Similarly, any distance between the lens and the device, can result in lens flare. This can be reduced by stopping any light leaking through between the lens and the device. Remove the phone case for best results and make sure the lens is placed centrally over the lens of your device.
Can my lenses be applied to the front facing camera?
Yup!
Will I need a special paid for App to use my lenses?
Nope! Just start snapping.
What happens if I upgrade my phone?
TRK lenses are universal and designed to fit most devices. If you have a problem once you have your new phone, let us know.
What do I get in my lens set?
Lenses, lens caps, a carrying pouch and a lens cloth as standard. Add a Bluetooth shutter release and any of the other TRK Essentials and Accessories to create your own TRK system.
Can I use my flash?
TRK lenses will block the flash on your phone. Either use the available light or use a TRK phone light.
What are my lenses made of?
TRK lenses are made from medical grade glass and high quality aluminium. The housing of the larger telephoto lenses is plastic.
Can I make video using my lenses?
TRK lenses can be used in video mode. Pay attention to your composition before you film.
I’m using a TRK lens. Why is there a black circle around my image?
The black circle is normal with certain lenses if everything inside it is in focus. If you don’t want this look for every shot, zoom in slightly until the black edges go. If the image is out of focus the lens maybe misplaced and may need to be adjusted.
My lens does not give a clear image, is it broken?
If the image is not clear make sure the lens is aligned with the phone camera. The lens maybe misplaced and may need to be adjusted.
Can I share my photos immediately?
Absolutely! The images you take are stored normally and can be shared as usual.
How do I line up the lens correctly every time?
Just look down through the lens to check that you can see your phone’s camera in the centre and make any adjustments. Then turn over your phone and look at your screen and make any further adjustments as necessary.
Are the clips secure?
The clips are strong but gentle on your phone. They grip very well and the lenses are a really good firm fit.
How can I get rid of the vignetting at the corners of the screen?
Just zoom in slightly and they’ll disappear.
How can I avoid camera shake?
Use a tripod shutter release and device holder to get super steady images. Also consider holding your breath and pressing the capture button smoothly. You can always brace yourself or lean against something solid.
What are these lenses for?
Fun mostly, then convenience. Consider how much easier stock and product images are to come by if you just make your own.
Can I use TRK lenses to take work videos and tutorials?
Yaasss! Set yourself up on the tripod and go for it! Whilst you are starting out and experience and expenses are under development – make your own.
How can I make it less of a faff?
If it’s a faff, then lenses are not for you. We get that these lenses aren’t for everyone. Remember we’ll be here to help if you do decide to give them a go.
